PRESBYTERY OF SOUTH ALABAMA VISION STATEMENT

We, the Presbytery of South Alabama, are people of God, reformed in theology and connectional in government.

We are made up of the individual churches with their members and the ministers within our geographical bounds.

We are part of the worldwide Christian church through the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

We live to love and enjoy God, to fulfill our calling through Jesus Christ, and to be lead by the Holy Spirit in our discipleship.

We affirm our connectedness with one another through our individual churches and the church at large as central to who we are as we:

Assist  churches and their members, sessions, and pastors within Presbytery with:

Resources, leadership training, Christian education, evangelism, stewardship, youth ministry, denominational matters, spiritual  renewal, congregational transformation, and social ministries

Act   together as Presbytery to:

Provide  pastoral care of ministers and their families, staff, offices and resource center, Christian camping and conference experiences, new church development, administrative and judicial oversight of local churches, stability and continuity in our Presbyterian heritage

Aid churches in need, pastor nominating committees, and lay leadership development

Oversee  inquirers and candidates for ordination, examination and work of ministers, and churches in trouble and conflict

Serve   God’s Kingdom on earth beyond Presbytery as the communication and action link between the local church, the Synod, the General Assembly, and the church ecumenical by receiving and giving through partnership and stewardship.
